Who is the best racer?
It depends on your skill level and driving style. Practice with all to find the racer who best suits your skills and style. The Lightweights hold all of the Time Trial world records, so they are the "best."

Can I use the first person perspective view in the demo/replay?
No. That would be cool though!

Can two players race with the same character?
No.

The characters on the Title Screen are facing opposite their normal direction, and the screen is now dark orange! What's wrong?
The game has the Extra tracks on it. The Extra mode contains all 16 regular courses, but they are mirrored, so that you run them in the opposite direction.

To make the Extra mode appear, you race the Mario GP circuit with a 150cc kart and win the Gold Trophy in all the cups. When you re-enter Mario GP, you will see a new option called "Extra."

Is there any reason I should beat 50 or 100cc? Why don't I just go straight to 150cc and beat that to get the Extra option?
Experience. If you can beat the 50 and 100cc challenge levels, you stand a better chance of winning at the 150cc level.

My official magazine says that Bowser is faster than Yoshi in MK64, so the info on your site is wrong!
I also used to think the heavyweights were the best, but the official magazines are actually wrong. The lightweights are the fastest racers in the game, and this fact has been proven by professional time trail racers. It's actually not uncommon to find official video game documents that contain incorrect information.

On the Title Screen, if I press the R Button it brings up a little window that says Mario Raceway, then gives my best time on the track. What is this?
This is just a hint on how to get the course ghosts.

How do I save ghosts of my best time?
If you have a Nintendo 64 Controller Pak, you can save two ghosts of your best races. There are also three course ghosts that will appear automatically if you get certain times on certain tracks. On Luigi Raceway, a ghost of Luigi will appear if you get a time better than 1'52". On Mario Raceway, get a time better than 1'30" and a ghost of Mario will appear. And finally, on Royal Raceway, score better than 2'40" and a ghost of Peach will appear. It seems like nothing special happens if you beat these ghosts, but it is challenging!
